Jonathan who in the company of his wife, Patience and mother completed the accreditation process under five minutes at the Otazi play ground polling unit 13 and came back to vote at 12.10 pm, stated that the re-occurrence of explosion in Suleja after the one that was detonated during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rally was an indication that a cell of anti-social elements in the area, adding that the Federal Government would comb the area and fish them out.
While sympathizing with the families of those who lost their loved ones, he said the government would continue to encourage all individuals charged with the responsibility to ensure a successful conduct of the 2011 elections. His words: "There are some anti-social elements who want to derail the election process but they would not succeed. We will definitely conduct our elections. I am quite happy that the corps members are the ones used for this process. We sympathize with those who have lost their loved ones but they should know the hazards we all face every day while doing our work.
The risk which security agents, and journalists face does not mean you should run away from your civic responsibilities as a Nigerian. We would encourage them and they would be protected. During the rally there was an explosion, which means there is a local cell of anti-social elements over there. We are going to comb the area and get them out."
On the conduct of the elections, Jonathan expressed happiness that everything is going on smoothly, stressing that the impressive record is a pointer that the 2011 elections would be peaceful. "For me the process is smooth. We are saying the votes of every Nigerian must count. Nigerians must participate in the process to choose their leaders. This election and all other elections would be smooth," the President vowed.
