10 Youth Corps Members In Edo State To Face Disciplinary Action!

Chairman  of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Governing Board, in Edo State, Miss Anita Evbomwan, yesterday, in Benin, said that 10 corps members,  found wanting during the 2010 Batch B Service Year are to face disciplinary action,  ranging from extension to total repeat of the service year.

Miss Evbuomwan, who is the state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, said the punishment will serve as deterrent not only to the affected corps members but also to those still serving their fatherland.

This was contained in her speech which was delivered by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Jerry Iyamu,  at the Passing-Out Ceremony of the 2010 Batch B corps members in Benin City.

Nine of the corps members were given State Honours Award, while four others received Merit Award with various cash prizes during the ceremony for distinguishing themselves through the execution of personal community development projects geared towards to the empowerment of their host communities.

The state honours awardees include Eneoka Alexander, Obidiaso Bonaventure, Ofodile Tochukwu, Folorunso Wasiu, Abiola Moses, Elemike Chikara, Benjamin Sunday, Ochigbo Peter and Okpu Henry while Ugwuoke Godslove, Olusanya Adeseye, Kolawole Akinola and Phillip Julius received merit awards.

Edo State Governor, Mr Adams Oshiomhole in his remark, congratulated the corps members for successfully completing the one year mandatory service to their fatherland and thanked them for positively impacting on the socio-economic well being of the state.

The Governor speech was presented by the state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Anita Evbuomwan. He commended the management of NYSC for its collaboration with INEC in the 2011 general election.

"The collaboration has no doubt, brought trust and credibility to the nation's electoral process. Besides, it has brought to us an electoral reform where true political popularity and relevance is tested through the ballot box.

We appreciate all the stakeholders for ensuring compliance with the 'one man, one vote' campaign, which had culminated in transparent and credible election applauded by Nigerians, including local and foreign observers," the Governor said.
