2012 ELECTION: Governor Oshiomhole's Contender Emerges!2012 ELECTION: Governor Oshiomhole's Contender Emerges!

THE Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship hopeful, expected to give Governor Adams Oshiomhole, a good fight for the 2012 governorship race in the state may have emerged.

He is General Charles Arhiavbere (rtd), who until recently was the immediate past Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru,  Jos, Plateau State.

Investigations indicted that Gen. Arhiavbere was seen by the opposition parties in the state as having the necessary financial muscles to give Oshiomhole a good fight  as far as the 2012 governorship race in the state was concerned.

Already, there are no fewer than four governorship aspirants on the platform of the PDP for next year election.

They are Prof Julius Ihonvbere, a former Presidential Adviser, who hails from the same Edo North senatorial district like Oshiomhole; Mr. Kenneth Imansuagbon, a school proprietor, from Edo Central and Mr. Chris Ogiewonmyi, the former Minister of State for Works, who is from Edo South as Gen. Arhiavbere.

It was gathered that the retired Army officer had since 2010 funded a non-governmental organisation made up of leaders in the civil society, politics, industry from across Edo State called Community Assistance and Cooperative Outreach.
