Deaths In Nollywood: Entertainers Run To Pastors For Prayers

Apparently troubled at the rate death has claimed the lives of prominent players in the entertainment sector lately, even after the Pastor Adeboye special prayer session aimed at preventing deaths and strange illnesses, the entertainers have concluded plans to hold a non-denominational special prayer session tagged Shift, Celebrity Prayze.

The prayer and deliverance session will be held on Sunday, 4 December, 2011 at Covenant Christian Centre, Lagoon Restaurant, Victoria Island, Lagos and will feature men of God like Poju Oyemade (Covenant Christian Centre) and Paul Emmanuel of Cornerstone International Ministry, among others.

Part of the invitation message being circulated among the entertainers reads: "Come, let's pray and praise God and seek His divine presence and forgiveness for our corporate and individual cover! No more premature deaths in the industry…"

Pastor Adeboye, who is particularly concerned about the tragedy that has befallen the Nigerian entertainment industry in recent times, had on 6 April, 2011, held a special prayer session for the entertainers at the Throne of Grace Parish, RCCG's National Headquarters in Ebute Meta, Lagos.

During the special service which was attended by top players in the movie industry, Pastor Adeboye prayed against deaths and illnesses among the artistes and also delivered a sermon on how the entertainers could harness their talent in righteous and profitable ways.

But shortly after that, the industry was once again ravaged by the death of prominent players including Christy Essien-Igbokwe, Sam Loco-Efe, MC Loph and Yemisi Eleto, among others.

Earlier, the industry had lost prominent practitioners such as Ashley Nwosu, Dagrin, CD John, Chidinma of Koko Mansion fame, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister and Ahmed Durojaye a.k.a. Alasari, who died in an auto crash on 20 March this year.
