Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has warned that acts of violence that are being unleashed in parts of the country can lead to retaliatory actions in which more innocent people will suffer.
He also expressed worry that the unfolding situation could lead to the erosion of confidence in organized society and government thereby setting the stage for anarchy. This was contained in a press statement, Tuesday, by the former Vice-President's Media Office in Abuja.
Atiku further condemned last Christmas day bombings of churches in several parts of Northern Nigeria.
Atiku while condemning the bombings and associated wanton destruction of lives and property at Madalla, Gudaka, Damaturu, Maiduguri and Jos said there is no cause that could justify the snuffing out innocent lives.
The former Vice-President further stated that he has been deeply saddened by these acts of violence that have led to the loss of many lives.
He expressed his profound and heartfelt sympathies to the families of those who lost dear ones and wished those that were injured a quick recovery.
He called on Nigerians to give the authorities the needed support to handle the situation adding that all citizens eschew bias for religion or ethnicity and be good, kind and supportive of one another in this difficult period. The former Vice President also urged for a greater respect for the sanctity of life and differences in culture and religion.
He maintained that enlightenment through education, economic empowerment and constructive dialogue are a panacea to stemming this cycle of blood-letting.

In case of any mass protest of which they are trying to engineer,we will start with their most favorite residences instead of Aso Rock.

I knw there will be a rush by politicians to gain political points out of the christmas bombing.
ReplyDeleteThey should be understand that we Nigerians also understand the drama. They vowed to do this and are fulfilling there promise.
Should there be any form of protest/destruction in 2012 i bet themm that the target for desstruction will not be Aso rock but their very best residential Homes/properties.
They should have a re-think on this act of beating drum in the forest and jumping to the road only to ask who beat the drum or made noise.
