Channel O, VJ and Nigerian entertainer Denrele Edun, won his 13th award as an entertainer at the Nigerian Broadcasters Awards held penultimate Sunday (11 December 2011)at the Lagoon Restaurant, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Denrele won the Most Popular Presenter in a category where he was nominated with five of Nigeria's top male television and entertainment personalities, including Uti Nwachuckwu of Africa Magic's Jara and M-Net's Big Brother fame. This was Denrele's first win at the second edition of the Nigerian Broadcasters Awards.

For the passionate 27-year-old, who is still fresh from the 2011 edition of Glo Naija Sings, this award makes him feel acknowledged, appreciated, recognised and above all, celebrated! "It's a major yardstick to show my relevance and consistency and above all, that my efforts are not in vain! Best of all, it's an avenue to prove that I'm rolling with the big league now…the Big 0!" he says, evidently proud of his present gig as Channel O VJ.
Denrele's larger-than-life and quirky personality is a force to be reckoned with and a power not to be ignored, and the proof is in the sterling number of plaques he has acquired which are in his wardrobe at his father's home!
These include the Dynamix Award for Best Youth TV Personality, which he won three times in a row; Nigeria Entertainment Award (NEA) for Best TV Personality (2010); Nigerian Model Achievers Award (NMAA) for Best Model TV Presenter (2009); City People Awards (for Excellence) for TV Personality of the Year (2008) and Best of Nollywood Awards (BON) for Media Personality of the Year (2009) to name a few of his accolades.
Upon receiving this award, Denrele thanked his father for always standing by him. "For tolerating my high-leveled insanity spells even when I used to rip off sleeves of his church shirts and also for allowing me express my individuality!" he says proudly. He also acknowledged and thanked his fellow nominees, his DStv family for giving him the opportunity to be part of Channel O and recognising the X-factor in him.
While congratulating Denrele on his award, Mrs Abiola Alabi, Managing Director, Mnet Africa, said Channel O is dedicated to providing quality musical entertainment across Africa and will continue to ensure that young musical talent are promoted across the continent .
