BEAUTY THURSDAY:10 Amazing Natural Hair Care Ingredients You've Never Thought About

The list of ingredients on an average hair care product can be
overwhelming. Who knows what all those multi-syllabic chemicals actually do
to your hair? With natural hair care products, you can give your hair the
benefit of nature's own healing properties without all of the chemicals.

Below is a list of ten natural ingredients that have amazing properties for
cleaning, moisturizing, and healing your hair. Organic and unrefined
versions of these ingredients are best because they will contain the most
nutrients.

*1. Shea Butter* – Shea butter is an emollient, which means that it
provides a layer of oil on the surface of your hair and reduces the amount
of moisture that is lost when your hair dries. Shea butter is especially
good for hair that is dry and damaged because it "seals" in the moisture
and nourishes the hair.

*2. Coconut Oil – *Coconut oil has antimicrobial properties that protect
against hair loss. It also contains Vitamin E, which keeps the scalp and
hair healthy. Coconut oil is another emollient that will keep hair
moisturised as well.

*3. Aloe Vera – *Aloe vera isn't just for sunburns – it can also treat many
hair problems. It cures dryness by adding moisture, which is actually
absorbed by the hair strands. This will also keep your hair looking healthy
and shiny. It also helps to moisturize a dry scalp.

*4. Vegetable Glycerin* – Vegetable glycerin is found in many hair products
because it is a strong humectant. This means that it easily retains water.
Like other natural hair care ingredients, it also creates a layer of oil on
the hair strand that holds in additional moisture.

*5. Jojoba Extract* – Jojoba is particularly good for treating dry, damaged
hair. It will relax and moisturize the scalp and prevent your hair from
getting split ends. If you have a problem with your hair being too oily,
jojoba can also dissolve some of the excess sebum clogging your hair
follicles.
*6. Extra Virgin Olive Oil – *Olive oil is another emollient that can seal
and soften your hair by holding in moisture. It will also improve the
strength and elasticity of your hair because it contains nourishing fatty
acids and vitamin E. "Extra virgin" means that it was produced without
machines or chemical treatment.

*7. Castor Oil* – Castor oil comes from the castor plant and castor beans.
It is a humectant with anti-fungal properties, which means that it keeps
the scalp and hair follicles free of infection. It also promotes healthy
hair growth.

*8. Honey* – Honey is also a humectant that moisturizes the hair. It also
has antibacterial properties which help with scalp problems and hair loss.
If that isn't enough, it's packed with vitamins and minerals that will
nourish your hair.

*9. Avocado/Avocado Oil* – Avocados have lots of healthy fats which work
well for sealing moisture into dry hair. It is also easily absorbed into
the skin, and so it's great for a dry scalp. Avocado has over 20 vitamins
which promote hair growth as well.

*10. Tea Tree Oil* – Tea tree oil is an essential oil, which means that it
is highly concentrated and just a little will go a long way. It is known
for its antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that can
easily soothe a dry scalp.
