Babcock University (BU), Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, is set to make history in Nigeria by graduating a 25-year-old doctorate degree certificate holder during its forthcoming convocation ceremony slated for Sun-day, June 2. Revealing this recently was the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. James Kayode-Makinde, who said he was proud that his university would be achieving this, “particularly at a time Nigeria needs to be in global spotlight for some-thing good.”
The would-be graduate, Opemipo Sodipe, would be awarded the certificate in Information Resources Management. “It is very important to note that the graduates we produce here are total students who combine discipline with academic excellence. So there is no doubt about their competence, because she would not be the first to attain such height.
“I believe many people would want to query what we have done due to the conventional age-limit for entering a university, but I must emphasise that we cannot send back brilliant students who have successfully scaled through the hurdles of our intensive screening exercise.
“We must also consider the condition for enrolling for a postgraduate programme which is good grade at first degree level and other basic requirements”.
