Time Hospital Reconciles With Families Over Swapped Corpse

The feud between the Management of Time Hospital and the families of Omorodion and Aigbe which has been  lingering for more more than 3 years, over the swapped corpse of late John Omorodion at the Time Hospital morgue in Benin City, Edo State has finally been resolved.

The resolution followed a meeting called by the Director of Time Hospital, Dr. Taiwo Amusan between the Aigbe’s and Omorodion’s families in Benin City.

It would be recalled that trouble started between the trio when the Aigbe’s family in a bid to collect the corpse of their father, Monday Aigbe mistakenly took that of late John Omorodion and buried in their family compound.
The media hype which greeted the seeming unusual occurrence later led to the exhuming of the corpse by the police for proper investigation, this followed a cause of action by the management of Time Hospital and the late Omorodion’s family, which led to the true identity of the hitherto buried corpse as being the late John Omorodion’s.

The truce was made possible recently in the state capital following both parties agreement to toe the line of peace by withdrawing their cases from the law courts, which had inhibited the burial of both corpses since the past three years.

Speaking, Dr. Amusan lamented that the corpses were yet to be buried over the past years, which he attributed to media insinuations of suspicion of ritual civilities in the hospital.

According to him, “I am not a ritualist neither is my hospital. I was not there when the Aigbe’s family came to deposited their corpse or when they came to pick away Omorodion’s corpse.”

He, however, expressed appreciation to the families even as he wrote off the accumulated mortuary bills amounting to over N400,000 (four hundred thousand naira). He also pledged to assist them in the burial.

Responding, the spokesman for the Omorodion’s family, Pastor Festus Egherevba Izomo re-emphasized that there was never a time the Omorodion’s family accused Dr. Taiwo Amusan as using their father’s corpse for ritual purposes.

Also speaking, Pastor Victor Aigbe of the late Monday Aigbe’s family appealed to the Omorodion’s family over their mistakes, even as it regretted the litigation that trailed the matter thereafter.

The two families including the Director of Time Hospital embraced themselves after the resolution, even as the eldest son and daughter of late Omorodion, Osaro and Vero Omorodion expressed appreciation towards the peaceful settlement.

A family elder in the Omorodion’s family, pa Lucky Izevbuwa thanked Dr. Amusan for his magnanimity.
