17-Year-Old Boy Sells Kidney To Buy Apple iPhone And iPad
Five people have been charged with intentional injury to a Chinese teenager who was so desperate to buy an iPad and iPhone that he sold his kidney for just over £2,000.
The accused, from southern China, include a surgeon who removed a kidney from a 17-year-old boy in return for around 220,000 yuan - just over £20,000.
Prosecutors in Chenzhou city, Hunan province, said one of the defendants received the money to arrange the transplant. He paid the teenager, identified only as Wang, 22,000 yuan - just over £2,000 - and split the rest with the surgeon, the three other defendants and other medical staff.
A Chinese boy from southern China sold his kidney to buy a coveted iPad
The teenager, identified only by his surname Wang, comes from Anhui, one of China's poorest provinces, where inhabitants frequently leave to find work and a better life elsewhere.
He now suffers from renal deficiency, according to the government-run Xinhua News Agency.
Following the surgery in April last year, Wang bought an iPhone and iPad.
When his mother quizzed him on how he funded the sought-after goods, he admitted selling a kidney.
It is not known who received and paid for the kidney.
The organ industry in China is booming and trading organs is a widespread online practice in the country.

Fake Police Inspector Caught With 30 Bags Of Indian Hemp
The suspect identified as Chukwuemeka Ezeabu was arrested with fake identity cards as an inspector in the Nigeria Police Force, and a clerical officer in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Abuja.
Ezeabu was said to have ferried bags of Indian hemp from places like Sango-Ota, Ogun State, Ibadan and other areas to big dealers in Lagos for about a year before he was arrested. His fake ID cards enabled him pass through many security checkpoints without hitches during such journeys.
Lagos State Police Commissioner, Mr. Umaru Manko who confirmed the arrest said, "Ezeabu got into trouble at Meiran along the Abeokuta road when he stopped to eat at a roadside canteen that Saturday morning.
"Just as he got out of his truck, a policeman on a motorcycle, who perhaps had perceived the contents of the truck, parked his bike right in front of the truck in an attempt to stop him from driving off.
"Ezeabu immediately sensed that the policeman wanted to interrogate him and tried to run. He was caught, arrested and brought to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Ikeja."
However, Ezeabu in his own reaction refuted carrying any Police ID: "I was a commercial bus driver within the Lagos metropolis for a few years before a friend of mine, Steve Soje, asked me to work for him. He owned trucks that were used to transport Indian hemp for dealers in Lagos.

She has been charged with drug smuggling in a federal court.
Customs officers became suspicious on Saturday when Adebisi said she was coming to the U.S. to visit her brother, but couldn't describe him. A routine pat-down found her stomach to be abnormally rigid. An X-ray revealed the pellets and she was taken to the hospital.
Weighing over five pounds, the heroine found on Adebisi is the highest ever ingested by a suspect caught at the airport.

11-Year Old Boy Arrested For Armed Robbery
The boy, with a gang of at least 20 robbers, raided several streets in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, southsouth Nigeria, dispossessing people, especially ladies, of their handsets, necklaces and handbags.
"They started robbing people from Atamunu Street to Mayne Avenue, Okpo Ene Atu and escaped through Target Street to Bogobiri, where I suspect they went to sell their stolen items," Glory Eyo, a civil servant, whose handset was snatched by the gang told our correspondent.
P.M.NEWS gathered that the robbers were armed with guns and machetes and started the operation at about 3 p.m. They went from one street to another unchallenged and snatched about 40 handsets.
Eyewitnesses said those who attempted to stop them were attacked.
"When my sister told me her phone had been snatched by a gang of young robbers, I went outside and I saw them moving towards Mayne Avenue from Okpo Ene. I ran after them and when I got close and shouted at them to stop, one of them pointed gun at me and said, 'I will shoot you if you come closer'. So I had to retreat," John Ekong told our correspondent.
The gang ended their operation at Atu by Goldie, where they picked second hand bags being sold by a lady, Fostina Thompson. By that time people had mobilised and given them a hot chase. While others escaped, the youngster was caught by the mob.
"When we went after them, they fled for safety at Target Street. While some escaped through the back streets, I caught the boy when he wanted to enter Mary Magdaline Street. I put a stud on him and he stumbled and the knife fell from his hand," Ebayi Oden, who caught the suspected kid robber said.
The robber had a deep machete cut at the back of his head and was bleeding profusely.
He was about to be set ablaze by the mob when police from the Atakpa Police Station arrived and took him away.

A 10-year-old Colombian girl has sparked outrage after becoming one of the world's youngest ever mothers by giving birth to a healthy daughter.
The girl, a member of an indigenous tribe called the Wayuu who are based in the La Guajira Peninsula in the north of the country, was 39 weeks pregnant when she underwent a Caesarean section. Most pregnancies are 38 weeks.
It was the first time the pre-teen, from the town of Manaure, had visited a doctor in connection with her pregnancy.
She reportedly arrived at the hospital bleeding, in floods of tears and 'enormous' pain from the contractions.
Doctors decided to carry out the risky operation because of her age - and both mother and daughter, who weighed just 5lbs, are said to be 'doing well'.
This is despite the mother refusing to breastfeed her newborn and the pair being confined to the neo-natal unit of the hospital, which has not been disclosed.
Although Colombian police could prosecute the father for underage sex, the country's constitution guarantees the Wayuu a certain amount of autonomy.
It allows the tribe to maintain its own sovereignty and certain cultural heritages, of which one is said to be the giving birth of children at an extremely young age.
In any case the community has remained tight-lipped as to the identity of the father, with some Colombian newspaper speculating it is a 15-year-old boy. Others believe it is a 30-year-old man.

School Bus Fire Tragedy Latest: Death Toll Hit 7
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Corps Commander Godwin Ogagaoghene, who confirmed the increase in the death toll in Ibadan on Thursday, condemned the kind of school buses being used by private schools in the state.
He said school proprietors should embrace the kind of school bus which was introduced by the FRSC, saying that it was safer.
According to him, the school bus introduced by the FRSC had two exit, which made coming and going out easy for school children.
The FRSC boss also asked school proprietors to look for qualified drivers to handle their school buses.
He also stressed the need for vehicle owners to always have fire extinguishers in their vehicles, saying that if the school bus had fire extinguisher and the driver trained, he would have applied it before the fire got out of hand.
The deceased were among 20 pupils being conveyed to their school, Divine Wisdom Group of Schools, Ibadan, Oyo State, when the school bus was gutted by fire, few metres to the school.
It will be recalled that 13 pupils of the school, located at Amosu area in Lagelu Local Government Area of the state were rushed to the emergency unit of the University College Hospital (UCH), after the Ford bus conveying them suddenly caught fire on Wednesday.
While some of the pupils, aged between five and 11, were rushed to different private hospitals around Iyana Church area, where the incident happened, 13 others were rushed to the UCH, due to the severity of the burns and were placed on oxygen.

The Nollywood movie merchants said that they will write to DSTV about their decision, because African Magic has reduced the purchase of Nollywood movies.
Some of us think they should be grateful to DSTV for helping them promote some fairly good movies, thus making some persons to still have confidence in Nollywood.

A Tragic End: Whitney Houston's Final Autopsy Report Released
The report released on Wednesday said the suite where the singer breathed her last was littered with prescription drugs and open alcohol containers and sopping wet from bathtub flooding when investigators arrived February 11.
'I collected... a spoon with a white crystal-like substance in it, a rolled up piece of white paper from off the top of a counter along the east wall in the bathroom,' the New York Daily News quoted coroner's supervisor Kristy McCracken writing in the report.
'I also collected remnants of a white powdery substance from out of a drawer and from the bottom of a mirror in the same drawer in the bathroom counter,' the investigator said.
An open champagne bottle, multiple packages of prescription medication, plates of food and an open beer can lay in disarray around the room.
A loose tablet was recovered from one table, a single capsule from another. An empty blister pack for an unidentified medication was on the floor.
Early in the afternoon that turned out to be her last, Houston complained of a sore throat, the report said.
Her assistant said she should take a bath and then left her alone around 2:45 pm to run an errand at Neiman Marcus.
When the assistant returned less than an hour later at 3:36 p.m., she found Houston 'lying face down in the bathtub, unresponsive,' the report said.
'The bathtub was filled with water, and there was water on the bathroom floor, however, the water was not running,' the report said.
The assistant called out to a bodyguard, and the two removed Houston from the tub before calling downstairs and telling hotel staff to call 911.
The bathtub contained 'extremely hot water,' the report said -- 93.5 degrees at 9:35 pm, more than five hours after Houston died.
An investigator noted that Houston had a 'bloody purge coming from her nose' after she was pulled out of the water.
A 'perforation' of her 'posterior nasal septum' was evidence of prolonged substance abuse, the report said.
The report did not confirm any testing done on the white powdery substance recovered from Houston's room, but coroner officials earlier confirmed the presence of cocaine in her system.
The official cause of death was accidental drowning 'due to effects' of heart disease and cocaine use, the report said, confirming coroner statements from two weeks ago.
The six-time Grammy winner also had marijuana, the anti-anxiety drug Xanax, the muscle relaxant Flexeril and the over-the-counter antihistamine Benadryl in her bloodstream, officials said.
Houston's body showed no signs of an aneurysm or foul play but a history of cosmetic procedures including breast implants.
She died wearing a brown wig 'tightly attached to the hair,' the report added.
Prophet Caught Sleeping With 5-Months Pregnant Married Woman In A Parked Car
Patrick (31) could not believe his eyes after his wife Lydia Makoni's illicit sexual exploits with Njari (40) came to light barely a week after they had consulted him for his services.
Lydia is said to have lied to Patrick that she intended to visit her mother who resides in the same neighborhood, only to discover that she had gone to the prophet [ Njari's] house for her sex-sermons.

In another interview, Lydia also CONFIRMED that she was caught red-handed being swayed by Njari's prophecies.
"It is true that this prophet asked me to come for prayers alone after we visited him along with my husband. He told me that I had no bright future with my husband saying he was planning to marry another girl.
"On the second visit, Njari gave me US$5 that I used to buy bread and he then seduced me and we ended up having s*x in the parked car," she said. She said she had lied to her husband that she had gone to her mother's place while in actual fact she was seeing the prophet.
"I was convinced by this prophet and I believed him as we were having problems at home with my husband that led us to consult him. He told me that he had fallen for me and that he would look for alternative accommodation in High-field for me although he knew that I was pregnant."
"On the day in question, he gave me a laptop which he said was a token of love and showed me a book which he said was a proof that the car was his and I agreed to his demands before we were caught by Patrick. At home, I had given instructions for Patrick to be told that I was to come back soon," said Lydia.
When we visited Njari at his shrine, he was not around as he is now playing cat and mouse with Patrick, who allegedly threatened him with death. Neighbors said Njari had sought refuge at his neighbors place where we finally hooked up with him and he confirmed the story.
He, however, blamed it on Lydia for visiting him at his house before begging us not to publish the story. After all she is the one who came to my house," he said .
"I am here because Patrick has threatened to kill me and I know he is violent as people around this neighborhood call him Masendeke. I could have died and I was not familiar with him because he is extremely dangerous.
"I know that you reporters would take it wrongly and denounce prophets but to be honest I was not putting on my garments and this was a sin of the flesh. There was nothing I could do to resist that and I am prepared to marry her if Patrick is no longer interested in her."
"I am a divorcee with four children the first one is 22 years old in the village in Dande under chief Matsiwo. Please do not publish this story. I am prepared to give you a heifer plus US$200 for your lunch and the driver who is with you.
"I am a dealer who buys gold and I have many beasts at my village so do not publish this story, I beg you," said Njari as he pleaded with H-Metro to kill the story.
Njari was also attending to a lady identified as Priscilla in the presence of her friends. She told H-Metro she had been advised to leave her mobile phone after failing to give him US$30 that he charged for the services.
"I thank my God because this man wanted my cellphone after I failed to raise US$30 for the services he offered me. He asked me to remove my blouse before he took long to attend to me to cure my stomach pains. He is a false prophet. I could have lost my Samsung mobile phone," said Priscilla.

How Aso Ebi Kidnappers Deceived A Foreign Investor To Come To Nigeria And Then Kidnapped Him
A strange twist was infused into the current rage of kidnap crimes sweeping the country when on Friday, March 30th the Deputy Director, Public Relations of our hard-working State Security Services (SSS), Mrs Marilyn Ogar, in Abuja paraded seven young men dressed in a colourful Ankara prints uniforms popularly known as aso ebi. It is worn by people going out for parties or celebration.
Just looking at them, one is forced to wonder whether these suspected felons were apprehended on their way to a social party, or maybe they just decided to put on a show in defiance?
Those paraded included Ojo Ibrahim Ajibade, Lamidi Akinkunmi, Olasunkanmi Temitope, Nureni Lamidi, Siyanbade Olalekan, Jelili Adeleke and Saka Kassim. They were alleged to be part of a syndicate that lured one Mohammed Khamis, a United Arab Emirate (UAE) businessman with a fake business name, Finuche Investments, into Nigeria whereupon he was abducted and kept in captivity for 60 days at Aborigun in Ikoyi, a town in Osun State.
Even though they (mercifully) allowed Mr Khamis to go unharmed on March 19th 2012, the long arm of the law personified by the SSS caught up with the seven youth with the rest, the alleged masterminds, still at large.
The aso ebi kidnappers invented a new angle of luring foreigners to the country and keeping them hostage, obviously for ransom.
This crime of seizing foreigners forms part of a worrying departure from our cherished culture of deep respect and protection of visitors and foreigners in our midst.
The main danger in the fate that Mr Khamis suffered in the hands of the aso ebi kidnappers is that more and more foreigners are going to be less enthusiastic about exploiting business opportunities in Nigeria for fear of being similarly victimised.

Khloe Kardashian Ready To Give Up 'Khloe & Lamar' TV Series To Save Her Marriage?
The latest report comes as there has been speculation that Kardashian and Odom were considering divorce .
A report arrived from Hollywood Life recently and has an insider source who said:
"Khloe is fighting to save her marriage. She realizes the toll reality TV and being in the public eye has taken on her relationship with Lamar."
There was talk of a possible second season of the weekly reality series, a spin-off of the popular "Keeping Up With the Kardashians." However, the source added:
"Khloe wants to make Lamar and starting a family her number one priority right now!"
Voters on the Hollywood Life article have voted overwhelmingly in favor of Khloe Kardashian giving up the reality TV show if it means saving her marriage. Husband Lamar Odom was traded for this NBA season to the Dallas Mavericks, requiring he and Khloe move from Los Angeles.
The added stress of the new NBA team situation may have increased tension in the marriage between Khloe and Lamar. Luckily, it seems the youngest of the Kardashian's has her priorities straight, and would prefer her marriage over fame.

Herbalist Caught With Human Skulls Intended For Money Rituals
Our correspondent gathered that the local vigilance group in Ijebu Ode, Obanta Safe and Secure Vigilance Group arrested the man after a tip off by the residents who have been suspecting the man for some weeks.
Narrating the incident to our correspondent in their office in Itoro, the Secretary of the group, Comrade Yemi Odukoya disclosed that they had laid ambush for the man for almost two weeks after some residents of the community complained about him.
According to the vigilance scribe, "the vigilance group from the town came to complain to us about the man. They accused him of dealing in human skulls as he is a herbalist.We told them to continue monitoring him as we also sent our surveillance team to work with them over there. Luck ran out on him around 12.30 a.m. when we swooped on him at his house and found two skulls, one male and the other female.We have handed him over to the police to continue the investigation."
The man while speaking with our correspondent confirmed that he has been procuring human skulls for some years now, claiming that it was being used for money rituals."
I am a farmer and a herbalist too. I belong to Jawesola Traditional Group and I have been fully involved about seven years ago since the death of my father. We normally get the heads from the burial ground and I operated alone. I don't have any accomplices.The skulls are used along with some herbs to make money rituals for our customers.
These two heads were cut off during the weekend."

Olusegun Obasanjo Resigns As PDP BOT Chairman
THEWILL gathered that Chief Obasanjo tendered his letter of resignation to party Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.
In a personally signed statement released in Abuja on Tuesday, the erstwhile two-term president listed increasing international demands on his experience, his willingness to provide mentoring to deserving persons and institutions nationally and internationally, and his wish to focus more on his library as some of the reasons for his decision.
"I have formally sent my letter of resignation as the chairman of BOT of PDP to the National Chairman of the party as prescribed in the party's constitution," he wrote. "I have formally requested the President to allow my bowing out and to issue a short statement to that effect."
