Man Sues Army For Losing His Eyes!

A 60-year old man, Mr. Joseph Agu has sued the Nigerian Army for N500 million allegedly losing his eyes.
His case is being prosecuted by the Legal Defence and Assistance Project (LEDP).
Agu lost the use of his eyes on Jan 15, 2009 when he was allegedly attacked by an Army Sergeant, Francis Ogah in a traffic related matter while driving along Abakpa-Ogui Road, Enugu.
He now moves about with the assistance of his wife, Justina.
Justice Dorathy Agishi of the Federal High Court, Enugu who heard arguments by counsels in the matter on Monday, adjourned further proceedings to October 5.
The judge said that the adjournment was for completion of adoption of the various motions and to enable one of the parties comply with the rules of court by paying penalty for late filing.
Ifeoma Adaghara, counsel to Agu had sought the court declaration that the cruel attack on the applicant on Jan 15, 2009 constituted a gross violation of his fundamental rights.
