''Childhood Poverty Produces Smaller Brains'' - Research

The rich really are different, at least when it comes to their brains. In two separate studies, researchers found that experiencing poverty in early childhood is linked to smaller brain size and less efficient processing of certain sensory information.
Previous work suggested that poverty can contribute to compromised cognitive function and low performance in schools, but using imaging, researchers have documented measurable changes in the brain tied to poverty.

Private Security: iPhone 5S Owners Are Now Using Their NIPPLES To Unlock Their Phone (PHOTO and VIDEO)

Out of all of the features introduced by Apple’s new iPhone 5s, it’s the Touch ID fingerprint sensor that has got the most attention. Because the latest body part being used to unlock the phone's fingerprint scanner is a nipple.
A number of videos have appeared online that appear to show male and female nipples being pressed onto the phone’s TouchID sensor.
The capacitive sensor can be used with any skin part, as long as a heartbeat and body temperature can be detected, to unlock the device.
One owner of the new iPhone 5S said: 'I'm glad Apple's scanner recognises nipples - it just goes to show how ridiculous the premise is in the first place.
'Now if anyone tries to mug me, they'll have to cut one of my nipples off if they want to use my phone, and I'm not telling them which one.'

Nigeria To Regulate Use Of Social Media

The Bureau of Public Enterprises says it plans to roll out policies and the legal framework for the regulation of the social media in Nigeria.
Director General of the privatisation agency, Mr. Benjamin Dikki, frowned on the unregulated posting of what he called offensive materials on the various social networking sites.
Dikki said this plan was in line with BPE’s reform mandate to initiate necessary policies and the legal framework for the regulation of the social media in the country.
He said, “As it now obtains, all manner of things are uploaded on the various platforms of the social media without recourse to age and sensibilities of the users. This is not good enough.”
Instead of them to think of berra issues to address...

Hawkins told journalists at the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, that Nigeria was among other countries that had in the last five years, sent more than 50,000 immigrants to the country through the programme.
“As at today, Nigerians have graduated from being under-represented to being a fully well represented group in the U.S.

“There is therefore no longer any need to encourage Nigerians to apply to travel to the U.S. through the Diversity-Visa-Programme.

Have You Tasted Black Chicken Before?

Did you know there was such a thing as black chicken? And I don’t mean as in dark feathers, but black skin, bones and even internal organs. There are actually several black chicken breeds in the world, especially in Asia, but the most popular of all has to be the Chinese Silkie.
Silkies are beautiful birds, covered in fluffy plumage, which is said to feel like silk, but underneath all that fluff they are far less attractive. Their skin is a dark-bluish color, the flesh is dark beige and the bones and some internal organs are pitch black.

A Must Read: "Escape From Wilderness"...Charly Boy

A very nice write-up from Charly Boy. Have fun reading...

Does anyone know how I really feel right now? So alone and empty, God! how I feel the pain. If you're in the wilderness like me, then you know it can be insane. Here my eyes are bleeding tears and my smiles are protecting my fears. I can't even go around and fake happy, because I’m in stagnation and it is hitting me from all direction. There is this disturbing feeling that time is passing me by, yet I’m paralyzed, I can't move and I can't think too far. At nights I can't sleep too easy, my heart is sore and my mind perpetually clustered with things that leave me shaking. Oh God! Why? I have prayed, I have fasted but nothing has changed, and it's almost a year now. My dreams are nothing but nightmares of all the negatives in this wilderness. What's happening to me? Look at me, I have always enjoyed comforting and giving directions to people in pain, right now I can't even save myself and I have refused to take my own pills.

World's Top 1000 Universities: No Nigerian University Makes The List

The QS World University Rankings are annual university rankings published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) which provides overall rankings as well as ranking for individual subjects. They help in exploring the world's top 1000 universities overall and also compare the ranking of universities in a specific region, by subject area, or based on factors such as reputation or research citations.
Unfortunately the latest global universities’ ranking released last Monday (pictured above) had not even one Nigerian university listed anywhere close to the top 1,000; while three schools in South Africa and one in Egypt made the first 400.
In the first 700, South Africa had seven universities, led by University of Cape Town, while Egypt has six universities led by the American University, Cairo.
Not only was Nigeria not part of the top 1,000, its schools were completely left out even under search...thanks to ASUU and FG.
