Photos From “Mother of George” Screening In New York City

The highly anticipated film,  “Mother of George,” directed by Nigerian photographer and filmmaker Andrew Dosumnu (Restless City) had it’s first screening in New York City at the Angelika Film Center.

The film tells the story of a Nigerian couple living in Brooklyn, New York –  their struggles in conceiving a child and the strain this has on African traditional values.

The screening, organized by Applause Africa, hosted many  African entertainment industry professionals such as Nollywood actress Rita Dominic,  America’s Next Top Model’s Nnena, actor Anthony Okungbowa and celebrity hairstylist Hadiiya Barbel.

Lead actors, Danai Gurira (Ayo), and Isaach De Bankole (Ike) were also in attendance.

Jay-Jay Okocha To Produce Classic Movie On ''Majek Fashek''

Former Super Eagles midfielder and club owner, Augustine "Jay-Jay" Okocha is about to produce a movie based on the life of popular reggae legend and guitarist, Majek Fashek.

The movie will be directed by Jeta Amata. And will be shot in Nigeria and New York. It was also revealed that Francis Duru will be playing the role of Majek Fashek and has been undergoing guitar lessons.

The movie was Directed by Ugezu J. Ugezu and produced by Izuchukwu Okeke.

Chris has released a statement to that effect...read his statement below:

”The last seven years on Tinsel have been an incredible journey and experience for me. Working with M-Net was phenomenal and it took a lot of deliberation but I have decided to pursue other career interests.”

When I first saw this pic on some blogs last week with the story that the girl pictured above was found dead in a hotel in Lagos...I was really shocked. The reports went further by claiming that her name was Florence Ngwu, a 300L student of University of Nigeria. This kind of sent some shock waves around for awhile until the producers of a certain movie released a statement claiming that no such thing happened in real life, but rather it was a photo from a movie titled ''Murder at Prime Suite''.

Over the last weekend, news broke out on the Internet about a certain girl, Florence Ngwu, murdered at prime suite, Lagos. We have tried to put a stop to the rumour but it keeps going viral.

Yay! The 2nd version of the official trailer for “Half of a Yellow Sun” is out with our very own Genevieve Nnaji starring in it.

A week ago, the first official trailer for “Half of a Yellow Sun” made it’s debut online without Genevieve appearing anywhere in it

This 2nd version according to Bella naija is almost identical to the first trailer – The major difference is we get to see Nollywood superstar Genevieve Nnaji in her role.

There were rumours earlier in the year that Genevieve’s role as Miss Adebayo had been cut out of the movie. According to the unsubstantiated rumours, “poor acting” was the reason for the chop! This seemingly gained credibility when she did not feature in the first official trailer.

“Half of a Yellow Sun” is an on-screen adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie‘s novel of the same name. The movie which is directed by Biyi Bandele stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton, Anika Noni Rose alongside Nollywood stars and veterans including Gloria Young, Zach Orji, Onyeka Onwenu, Tina Mba and Genevieve Nnaji.

The film has been selected as the Opening Night Gala Film of the trinidad+tobago film festival 2013!
