Lagbaja Responds To Okey Ndibe On His Article ''Nigeria As Lagbaja's Perfect Mumudom''

Okey Ndibe is a novelist, political columnist, and essayist while we all know Lagbaja as the very popular masked  Nigerian Afrobeat musician.
This is Lagbaja Response while Okey Ndibe's article is immediately after it.

Dear Okey Ndibe,
Thank you for sounding the alarm in a way that should make us reflect deeper. Mumu is not a condition I proudly proclaim. It was with a heavy heart that I came to this shocking realization that we are indeed a country of mumus. Harsh as it might sound, no other explanation would suffice. It is apparent that the "leaders" know that they would always get away with whatever incredible schemes they concoct because, amongst other reasons,

(a) the mumu people they "lead" are no different from their mumu "leaders" in character

(b) the mumu people are gullible, superstitious and naive

(c) there are no consequences for criminal acts if you belong to the right group

(d) these mumus never demand accountability from their "leaders"

(e) the mumus expect their rulers to loot or would otherwise consider them foolish

Apologies for the seeming overgeneralization but the vast majority runs with this mumu mindset.

State Of Nigeria: How Honourable Are Our Lawmakers?

The Nigeria Parliament both at the state and federal levels, have had a chequered history from independence to date. Of all the arms of our government, the legislative arm can be described as the youngest and less experience. One of the reasons for that status of our parliament, is perhaps because, at all times the military took over power, the law making body is usually the most affected. The executive and the judicial arms were usually preserved by each of the military who had at one time or the other foisted themselves on the people of Nigeria.

Rapper Eva Speaks On Her Love For Her Ex And The Accident She Had Because Of Him

“It was a crazy wake-up feeling yesterday July 9th. I practically didn't want to get out of bed cause I was so sick with the Flu. I had just flown back from Abuja the night before and it seemed perhaps, the only thing I got back from Abuja was the damn flu! I didn't even buy my favorite snacktime crunch, Kilishi - which I am still mad about by the way.

Celebrity Smokers: A Must Read

Star Smokers
What do stars like Robert Downey Jr, Rihanna and Lady Gaga all have in common? They're all star smokers. This often causes a headache for their management team as they are always trying to portray their clients in a positive light.

Much Ado About A President’s Broadcast! Clueless Leaders, Clueless Followers? (A Must Read)

This is an interesting piece I saw and feel like sharing it.

“In a democracy, the people get the government they deserve” – Alexis de Tocqueville
The presidential broadcast marking 2012 Democracy Day has come and gone however, as it has become the norm that any time the President speaks, there MUST be angry reactions this is no exception.
The President’s Democracy Day Broadcast has 71 paragraphs with each majorly treating separate issues. The renaming of the hitherto University of Lagos (UNILAG) as Moshood Abiola University (MAU) which was contained in the very last paragraph (71st) paragraph is the bone of contention this time.

So controversial it is that many Nigerians who did not listen “LIVE” to the President’s Broadcast would believe, thanks to the unnecessary noise, that all the President said during the one-hour Broadcast was the announcement of the renaming of UNILAG.
I am deeply disturbed by the unnecessary hullabaloo that this issue has generated. For God’s sake, Mr. President talked for one hour and it is shameful that one thing that we could pick out from the whole speech is the issue of the nomenclature of an educational institution.
Before I go on, let me quickly say that I am not a fan of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Some Questions Women Should Not Ask Men

“Honesty is always the best policy”

Ladies I mean in most cases yeah, but like with everything else in life honesty is best in moderation. One has to be careful with the truth, as the person who you give it to may not always be too thankful for it. “A man who tells the truth all the time has no friends” I tell people this all the time. I’m not saying lets all lie at the same rate as politicians and rappers do, but tread carefully.
Women are probably the most inquisitive of the sexes, specialising in questions such as Where were you? With who? As well as most questions starting with the words “Why don’t you…?” Or closed questions such as “Don’t you know that?”. Some of these questions sometimes take the form of trick questions; you know those ones where you have to be very careful of the answer as it might be a set up. According to Don Kwelu:
There are some things which should be spoke about however some questions just don’t need to be asked. Lets examine….
  • Do you love me?
A question we fear and puts us on edge when asked, especially if its only 6 months into a relationship. Its better you wait for someone to tell you that they love you om their own accord rather than ask this question and pause awaiting a response, why would you do this to yourself? I know women like to be constantly reminded of things but come on man this one is not necessary. If he has never told you he loves you, it’s pretty likely he doesn’t and this would just be an awkward question that’s going to kill a vibe. This is one of those questions that should only really be asked in crisis relationships talks or before you ask for reeeeally big favours, otherwise its just going to cause problems.

Nigeria's Legal System and the 14 years imprisonment of Rod Blagojevich

Crime is crime anywhere, though punishment for offenders varies, it is nevertheless a crime.

There are degrees of crimes, ranging from stealing, murder, terrorism, lying on oath etc

In Nigeria political landscape vis a vis the masses, criminals are aptly described when one steals a cup of garri, a tuber of yam etc, such is a heinous crime that attracts stiff punishment.
If you, by contrast, an ex or current political office holder and you are caught stealing billions of public money, and the authority musters the boldness to charge you to court, you plead guilty or not, and you are given a pat at the back, with an executive sentence of one month in prison or with an option of fine. The fine will be so ridiculous, that the big guy simply dip his hands in that back pocket and pay instantly. Off he goes, a free man. See EFCC vs Lucky Igbinedion, former governor of Edo State.

The other type of crime I really want to discuss here is 'attempt to commit crime' and perjury, ie lying on oath.
Looking at our legal system and the various cases normally charge to court by the police or legal officer, attempt to commit crime is rarely one of them. Not even when one is on oath in court and he is found to have lied before the judge, is anything done to prosecute such person.
The laws are there in our status book, but they lack potency.

Of course, just now, there is a politicised attempt to prosecute the former court of appeal president, Justice Salami for perjury. If it succeeds, will the punishment land him in prison? I doubt.

A Crime may not be too difficult to solve if suspect is truthful. The time for legal battles is reduced.

Unlike Nigeria, other countries where the law is to the letter, there is no apparent distinction between the big guys and area boys when they are involved in crime. For example, recently in Illinois, united State, former governor Rod Blagojevich was sentenced to 14 years in prison,
For attempting to sell the Senate seat vacated by President Obama and then lying to the FBI about it.

If crimes are appropriately punished in respective of who is involved, our politicians will hurriedly find a cure to their kleptomanaic ailments.
Then our money will not be funnelled into the account of an individual but, available for public use. Development will increased, the poor will smile, and crime, terrorism, bombing, kidnapping will reduce.

My mother, with her hands pulling my ears, told me that for a child to perfect the act of stealing, he must first learn to tell lies.

Will It Happen In Nigeria! British Energy Minister Resigns over Speeding Charges.

Will It Happen In Nigeria! British Energy Minister Resigns over Speeding Charges.
Now I wonder why it's always right in Whiteman world!

Most public office holders in western world often thread the part of honour and resign whenever indicted or accused of any crime or misbehaviour. Even at the slightest indication of inappropriate behaviour in public duty, he goes away quietly in shame never to be heard again.
When I hear such brave act coming from whiteman's world, I often wonder in contrast, the kind of stuff Nigeria leaders and public office holders are made of. Certainly, it's not only Nigeria but all Africa leaders. It appears, their consciences are gavanized more to make public appearances and blame it on devil for their itching fingers or for drunk driving. The least of government vehicle in Nigeria will never obey traffic light!

What is actually wrong with a black man? Is it the pigmentation of the skin? Or the continent called Africa? Why won't a corrupt Nigeria office holder thread the part of honour and quietly resign from public responsibility like
"British Energy Secretary, Chris Huhne {who} resigned... after prosecutors announced he would be charged over allegations that he dodged a speeding penalty"

For details on British Energy Secretary, Chris Huhne click link bellow:

However, I don't believe all Nigerians are as dark as every leader who was possessed with satanic demons to steal and destroy public treasury given to him on trust.
Even those who flout the law with impunity will one day realise that the world has changed, and the devil has stopped taking blames for them.

Chris Huhne is just one case example. If our leaders can not learn from this and prove whatever innocence from the confines of their bedrooms when indicted, the good Nigerians will soon find a way to resign them. Of course, we are heading to that place where accountability and responsibility matter.

A word is enough for the wise.

This Is A Must Read! Some Of The Challenges We Are Bound To Face In Life

This Is A Must Read! Some Of The Challenges We Are Bound To Face In Life
I am not here to talk just about making a living, but making a positive change in your life and in your environment. if only you know that everything is within your reach, you will agree with me that the answer to what you need in life is in your hand. You do not have any limitation. We all have something in our hands that will lead us to the point we desire. All you have to do is to decide what you need to do with what you have in your hands.
Most times in our lives, when we are faced with the critical question of what to do with the dreams in our hands, we tend to look for someone who is already made to help us. Yes, you might need help to do certain thing, but your readiness and sincerity to yourself will go a long way to realising your dreams, if only you always remember that the answer to each question is also in your hands.

We all have dreams, it's just that some of us do not know we have. Situations and circumstances of life can never be fair. Whatever you do with your life is entirely yours.

Let me tell you a story about this. One day, I walked up to my mother with a clenched fist trying to outwit her. "Mom, what do I have in my hands?"
