Edo Technology Day 2013: Governor Adams Oshiomhole Launches Open Data Portal

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State cuts the tape to commission the State's Open Data Portal, the first in Nigeria, with him is the Minister of Communications Technology, Mrs Mobolaji Johnson and Mrs Yemi Keri. Managing Director, Information and Communications Technolgy Unit, Edo State.
Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has launched Open Data Portal  programme with an assurance to eliminate waste and corruption in governance.
The Governor said the technology will improve transparency, accountability and restore confidence in governance.
He said that part of the problems of government is the absence of information which he noted can run down the effectiveness of any administration.
Governor Oshiomhole pointed out that sively established an information communication Technology (I.C.T) center which was able to eliminate ghost workers in the state public sector as well as identify Pensioners who have not been paid over 30 years.

According to the website:
Data.edostate.gov.ng is the official data repository for Edo State Government. It provides an easy way to find, access and reuse public datasets from the State Government, international organizations and non- state actors.

We hope this data will become a platform for improving transparency, catalyzing innovation, and enabling social and economic development. We encourage all users to leverage the information in this portal to develop tools and applications which benefit all Edo State citizens.
