The Federal Government has ordered immediate deployment of troops to troubled Nasarawa state.
The Director, Army Public Relations Department, Brigadier General Ibrahim Attahiru, said the troops, will join the police to stem the tide of violence in the state.
The North-central state descended into chaos Friday following clashes between two ethnic groups.
An unknown number of people have died while several thousand others were displaced after their houses were razed in the violence now in its sixth day.
As commander-in-chief, President Goodluck Jonathan must approve deployment of troops to any part of the country.
