His corpse was brought into his compound by a grey Mercedez ambulance marked TOS 5 accompanied by his family members and friends, as six casket bearers later carried the sky-blue casket into the late Egba Chief's home.
Shortly before he was buried, Rev. Olohuntoba Obaselu who preached the sermon on the occasion, enjoined everybody to be mindful of his tomorrow.
He was buried at exactly 3;45pm at his house at Ita-Eko, Ibara Abeokuta in the presence of many dignitaries including former Governor Gbenga Daniel, former Minister of Mines and Steel, Sarafa Ishola among others.
Vanguard reliably gathered that, contrary to the rumour making the rounds that, the late Apagun Olumide, who was the Chairman of Abeokuta Golf Resort was possibly strangled to death before he was dumped in the lake at the resort, the result of the autopsy indicated otherwise.
Although, the official report of the autopsy was yet to be made public, but, Vangurad who was at Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital morgue, Aro, Abeokuta where his body was kept, got the hint that, there was no foul play .
When our correspondent contacted the Police Spokesman for the state police command, Lawrence Aleto, he said he was yet to be briefed about the result of the autopsy performed on the late Apagun.
The burial which was devoid of usual glamour attached to burial ceremony of personalities like the seasoned architect, came to the climax at 3:45pm when his body was lowered.
It was learnt that, a heated argument ensued between the state government representatives and the family of the late Egba high Chief over the propriety of an autopsy.
Vanguard who witnessed the incident, saw the delegation of the state government led by the State Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, Joel Eye, presenting a letter from the state government ordering an autopsy on the body of the late Apagun Olumide.
His eldest son, Femi Oluwole-Olumide who said that, it was very clear that there was no foul play as being insinuated, accused the government of politicising their fathers death.
The family members who arrived the hospital around 8 am yesterday to take the corps met a stiff resistance from police and other security agents who were said to have been drafted to the area as early as 3am to prevent any suspicious act.
The family members after a while, gave in and allowed an autopsy to be performed on the body.
