There has been reports that former Nigeria’s Vice President Atiku Abubakar and 9 PDP governors have sent an application to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for the registration of a new political party.
When quizzed on his twitter page by a curious citizen, the former VP responded as follows...see his tweets below:
Some of the PDP governors who allegedly joined Atiku to form the party includes Governors Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Garba Umar acting governor of Taraba State, Abdufatah Ahmed of Kwara State and Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State.
INEC confirmed on Wednesday that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and some Governors of the crisis-ridden ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have applied for the registration of a group, Peoples Progressive Movement (PPM), as a political party and it is processing the application.
A source close to INEC revealed that the new party should have been registered along with the All Progressives Congress, APC, but INEC delayed the registration “for strategic reasons.’
