Police Disperse Ojukwu Mourners, For Fear Of Inciting People Towards Actualization Of 'The State Of Biafra'

Police Disperse Ojukwu Mourners
Police in Nnewi, home town of the late Biafra leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, yesterday arrested the leader of Biafra Zionist Movement, Mr. Benjamin Onwuka, as members of his group were parading the streets of the town mourning the late Ikemba Nnewi.
The group had taken off from the gate of Ojukwu's country home in Nnewi and moved round the popular Nkwo Nnewi triangle before entering the town's main motor park to distribute leaflets.

Shortly after they entered the motor park to speak to the people, the police was said to have swooped on them and ordered them to disperse.

Onwuka had told Vanguard that his group was opposed to what they described as the one-man show of the leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, adding that in addition to the mourning of the late Biafran leader, the group would intensify the struggle for the actualization of the state of Biafra by ensuring that world powers, especially the United States of America, USA, supported the struggle.

However, about 20 minutes after he spoke to Vanguaard, one of Onwuka's aides called on phone, saying their leader had been arrested by the police after dispersing them.

Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka, however, said nobody was arrested, adding that what happened was that the police had to mobilize to disperse the group when it was discovered that they were inciting people.
