"We have decided to end our marriage," they said. "This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time."
The news came as a shock to many as Lopez (41) and Anthony (42), with three failed marriages between them, seemed to have been the perfect match having toured together and made a movie (El Cantante) together and were recently in talks about making a music-based reality TV show.
The high profile couple seemed inseparable: Lopez even danced in the background for her crooner husband when he performed on American Idol, where she debuted as a judge this past season.
The couple married in 2004 having been friends for some time. Lopez had been married twice before and Anthony had been married to former Miss Universe, Dayanara Torres.
They were last pictured together at the unveiling of her Boy's and Girl's Club billboard in Times Square in New York on June 10.
