Arrest of 400 Nigerian women in Saudi Arabia: Nigeria Appeals For Calm

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON)  on Monday in Abuja promised to resolve the issue that led to the arrest of 400 Nigerian women in the holy land.
Alhaji Uba Mana, the Head of Public Relations, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). Mana said there was a mix up in the agreement reached between Nigeria and the Saudi authorities on the 2012 hajj. He said that the Nigeria Government was doing everything possible to solve the matter amicably. Mana appealed to families of those whose wives or relations were detained to be calm as the pilgrims would not undergo any hardship apart from the restriction in movement. He said that the 2012 hajj was on course, adding that the Haji Commission officials were monitoring the situation, adding, “every country wants its pilgrims to be treated well’’. 17,000 Nigeria pilgrims are already in the holy land.
