Thuraya Phones Banned In Borno State To Thwart Their Use In Attacks By Boko Haram

The Nigerian military yesterday banned the use of Thuraya phones and their recharge cards in Borno State, hotbed of Boko Haram militancy in a move described as an anti-terrorist measure.

A statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa, the JTF’s spokesman in Maiduguri, stated: 

“The attention of the JTF has been drawn to the use of Thuraya phones by Boko Haram terrorists to coordinate their recent assassination of civilians especially students and some Imams.”

Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu, the ex-deputy governor of Lagos state, has been declared wanted by the Police Special Fraud Unit (SFU), in Lagos, over an alleged fraud of N130 million.

Mrs. Ngozi Isintume-Agu, DSP, spokesperson of the unit said in a statement that Sinatu was wanted along with her son, Samson Ojikutu, who is now in the United States of America.

Funmilayo Olayinka has been deputy governor since 16th October 2010. She was also a champion of women’s rights. She came to the Ekiti government  house from the banking sector.

She leaves behind a husband and three children.

She was 52 years old.

Is Rapper Rick Ross's Responds To Date-Rape Lyric Too Late?

A petition has been launched demanding that major sports brand Reebok discontinue using Rick Ross in their advertising, following his use of a lyric referencing date-rape. 

As over 50 thousand people have called for him to be banned, the rapper has spoken out to defend himself, saying rape is not something he ‘condones'.

The lyric in question features on Rocko’s song U.O.E.N.O and appears to have Ross rapping about drugging a woman with molly, which is slang for crystallised MDMA, and then having sex with her.

The questionable lyric is as follows: ‘Put molly all in her champagne / She ain’t even know it / I took her home and I enjoyed that / She ain’t even know it.’

Speaking on 93.3 in New Orleans at the end of last week the 37-year-old defended his rap.

Rick, who is also known as Rozay, said: 

‘Woman is the most precious gift known to man. And there was a misunderstanding with a lyric, a misinterpretation.

There has been speculations on whether Chris Brown and his on-off girlfriend, Rihanna are still together...since no one has seen the two lovers in public for some time now...well on Monday Chris however made it clear he was still with Rihanna  during an appearance on The Today Show.

When presenter Matt Lauer asked if they were still together, Chris replied: 'Absolutely. Everything is fine.'

On assaulting Rihanna in 2009, Chris said:

“I’ve been humbled by the whole experience, From me losing everything, you know, to me having to regain public opinion or whatever it is — but most importantly, you know, knowing that what I did was totally wrong and having to kind of deal with myself and kind of forgive myself in the same breath and being able to apologize to, you know, Rihanna and be that man that can be who is a man, you know?”

Lagos State Police Command has arrested members of a gang that allegedly robbed Murtala Muhammed International Airport on March 13, 2013....the gang was also behind another operation at the same airport in 2012.

One of the suspects, Ibikunle John  who claimed to be a pastor, said he only prayed for the suspects and gave them spiritual items to aid them in their operations.

He said he only met the suspects in February and had tried to dissociate himself from them but they threatened to kill him if he did not play along.

John said, “I met them through a friend, Paul, who brought them for prayers at my church, the Way of Joy in Egbe, Lagos. Later, they confessed that they were robbers and threatened to kill me if I exposed them. I made them to swear an oath of secrecy and also gave them some spiritual backing.

26-Year-Old British-Nigerian Girl To Become Britain’s First Ever Black Marchioness

Emma McQuiston the daughter of a Nigerian oil tycoon, Ladi Jadesimi will soon become Britain’s first  ever black marchioness (the wife of a marquis ranking above a countess) when she eventually gets married to the Marquess’s heir, Ceawlin Thynne, British businessman and the second child of Alexander Thynn, 7th Marquess of Bath in June.

The the 26-year-old British-Nigerian claims that she is subject to racism and snobbishness among the aristocracy in Longleat (the current seat of the Marquesses of Bath).

She said: 

“There has been some snobbishness, particularly among the much older generation.

Chief HID Awolowo, wife of the late sage, Obafemi Awolowo, former Premier of Western Nigeria lamented a mother’s worst nightmare when Bishops from Remo Diocese of the Anglican Communion broke the news of the death of her son, Oluwole, who passed on in a London hospital on March 27. Amid sobs, she reeled out names of her own parents, saying:

“’Oh Wole, my dear son! Why now! Is it a sin to live long? My parents lived long, why should longevity become a curse in my own case? 

“Bishop, you said I would not witness any more unfortunate incident. Bishop, you said I would not witness any sorrow again. Bishop, you said I would not witness any more pain.”
