Six people including four policemen and two civilians were on Monday killed in Tambuwal town, headquarters of Tambuwal Local Government of Sokoto State by suspected SOURCE armed robbers said to be on a mission to rescue a member of their gang, who was in detention at the Divisional Police Headquarters in the area.
The group armed with sophisticated weapons were said to have launched the attack on the Divisional Police Station in Tambuwal and also at a branch of First Bank, leaving several bullets holes on the police station after carting away arms and ammunition from the police armoury.
The corpses of the policemen whose identities are being withheld have been deposited at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto.
When Vanguard visited the scenes of the incidents, over 12 bullet holes were found on the walls of the police station where they succeeded in freeing the suspect and fled through Kambaza –'Yaule Road leading to Kebbi State.
