IN a manner reminiscent of the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe (Zik), Ikemba Nnewi, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, has made it clear that he is not in a hurry to leave this earth.
Zik, a foremost nationalist and Nigeria's first President, had declared in an interview with journalists in his later years, that he was not in a hurry to leave this earth.
Asked how he was looking forward to death, the Great Zik, as he was fondly called by his admirers, replied that this earth was all he knew and that he would like to enjoy it much longer. He eventually died at the ripe age of 91.
In a somewhat similar manner, Ojukwu, whose rumoured death shook the nation midweek, has told close friends and relatives that death is not on his mind for now as he still has an unfinished business.
'Those hoping to celebrate Ojukwu's death in this season should find something else to do because the great man has told us that he is not in a hurry to die, as he has not finished his assignment on earth,' an informed source told The Moment On Sunday.
'I wonder what those wishing him dead stand to gain from peddling unfounded rumours about him. We are consoled that they are not God and cannot determine how long the Eze-Igbo will live,' the source added.
The rumour was said to have been flashed on the internet as breaking news and might have been the handiwork of political opponents and their supporters, who perceive Ojukwu as the greatest hindrance to their ever governing Anambra State, as if Ojukwu was available when their parties were routed in the Imo governorship battle
