Woman Gives Birth To Abnormal Baby!

I apologise for the very disturbing picture...
RESIDENTS of Iyin Ekiti community in Ekiti State were thrown into confusion on Thursday when a woman gave birth to a baby with abnormal head at the General Hospital in the area.
It was learnt that the middle age woman gave birth to the strange creature around 2.15pm on the fateful day. It was further gathered that from an official of the hospital who pleaded not to be named that the woman, who gave birth to the strange baby at the hospital made the delivery through caesarean section.

The source told our correspondent on telephone that the baby which later died had two bulging eyes and few strands of hair on his forehead.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Wole Olugboji, who confirmed the delivery of the abnormal baby to journalists on Sunday said: "There was a woman who gave birth to a baby without head at General Hospital at Iyin. The baby is dead but the mother is okay."

The commissioner added that the mother who was still unconscious due to the sedation before the CS was not, however, allowed to see the creature which, he said, was quickly disposed of in order to save the parents from embarrassment which the strange creature would cause them.

It was gathered that the husband of the woman who was said to be present at the delivery approved of the quick burial of the strange object. "The baby did not have brain and its head was open at the back and you could see mucus inside the head instead of brain. It was strange nobody in the hospital had seen such a baby before", said a source.

Another source added, "the strange baby was very tiny at birth; the delivery was abnormal as the fluid which was drained from the mother's body was in excess of normal quantity."

The woman was said to have gone for series of scan in some private hospitals where she was told that she was going to deliver a set of twins. But it was gathered that the parents were hinted by the officials of the General Hospital at Iyin that the woman was carrying only one foetus and it was headless.

The source said that they believed that the baby must have been deformed due to the effects of some drugs or herbs. He said, "That is why we always ask pregnant women not to take any drugs unless they were prescribed by doctors. We can't also rule it out that the deformity might have been caused by concoction. It is possible."
