Sierra Leone's ever first film and acting school, IDF Film School, was recently established by the Director of Instittut de Francais, Ahmed K. Mansaray who also doubles as a movie executive producer and director.

An official ceremony to introduce the school to the public was recently held in Freetown. It attracted dozens of film makers nationwide and took place at the Institut's restaurant, Café de la Paix, 29 Rawdon streeet, Freetown.

During the ceremony Director Mansaray said though the film school is a department of the Institut de Francais they will be doing English, Krio and French films. He said a critical look at the film industry in the country has warranted a movie academy to formally train people in movie production.

"Sierra leonean filmmakers need this formal training if they want to climb the movie ladder and be like Hollywood,' he said, adding that the school aimed at having as its students film makers and those with no film experience.
