Bombs Supplier Arrested In Maiduguri!

A man believed to be the supplier of chemicals used in making explosives has been arrested by the Borno State Police Command, following investigations by detectives.
Mr. Simeon Midenda, Commissioner of Police in-charge of Borno Command on Friday disclosed this while addressing the press on the efforts of his command to unravel the identity of the suspected suicide bomber who attempted to bomb the Police Headquarters on Monday 15 August.

He said detectives combed the car of the lone suicide bomber for clues that would assist in further investigations and were able to trace the source of the explosive materials to a store on Bama road Maiduguri.

Following the arrest of the store owner and supplier of the chemicals, his store was immediately sealed after evacuating the remaining chemicals.

Investigation so far revealed that 13 bottles of Aluminum powder, one packet of face masks and a packet of hand gloves were bought from the store on  August 8, by those who sponsored the bombing attempt.

The Commissioner of Police further stated that documents recovered from the shop revealed other purchases whose dates of purchased are in tandem with period bomb blasts were  recorded in the Northern part of the country starting with October 1 blast in Abuja.

He said investigations also revealed that the suspect in custody has been this major source of supply of these chemicals to this particular group of insurgents who have been attacking locations in parts of the North.
