The Kogi State Command anti-bomb squad yesterday recovered a grenade beside Meme River close to Christ Apostolic Church Oke-Segun in Lokongoma Phase two Lokoja. The grenade had code number M79 AF1 with an inscription "Blast Grenade.
The commander of the anti-bomb squad Mr. Cletus Nzeji said the object was not detonated and it belonged to the police force.
According to him, the grenade was designed to disperse violent groups but was not capable of killing at far range. He said the object could kill at close range.
"We don't know yet but it is possible this grenade may have floated down here from another river or stolen or fell into the river during an operation," he stressed.
