Mysterious Death Of Five College Students Sparks Protest In Kogi State!

Following the mysterious death of five students of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa within a period of three months, the students yesterday embarked on a violent demonstration, leading to the destruction of the college's properties as well as some residential quarters of the principal officers of the institution.

The students alleged that the death of their mates may not be unconnected to occultism on the college campus. Our correspondent gathered that the students were more particular on a certain principal staff of the school, whose residential house was also razed along with that of the college provost.

According to some students who spoke on condition of anonymity, the alleged principal officer had, for a long time, been suspected to be the brain behind the strange deaths that has sent fears into the college community for the past three months. When contacted, the College Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mallam Tairu Momoh, confirmed that there was spontaneous protest from the students leading to the destructions of properties, but declined further comment on the matter.

Meanwhile, the state Ministry of Education has ordered the immediate closure of the school pending the return of normalcy. The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Abubakar Salihu, who spoke to reporters on behalf of the Commissioner for Education yesterday in Lokoja, the state capital, said a team has been dispatched to Ankpa to assess the situation, urging parents and students to remain calm.
