Edo State 2012: Oshiomhole And Major General Airhiavbere In Battle Of Words!

Oshiomhole And Major General Airhiavbere
FORMER Commander, Corps of Army Finance and Accounts of the Nigerian Army, Maj.Gen. Charles Airhiavbere (rtd), has formally declared his ambition to run for the 2012 governorship election in the state under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He decried what he described as the poor state of infrastructure in the state under the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN)-led government after three years, asserting that the state needs a "general" to stop the incessant cases of kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.

But in a swift reaction, Governor Adams Oshiomhole asserted that "Edo is not a garrison command that needs a general. When the time comes, we will tell Edo people our pedigree and the report card of his PDP and the ACN government under me. Edo people will decide whether they want to go back to the dark ages or the changes we have made. These people are unserious but we are ready".

Airhiavbere, who spoke at the Garrick Memorial School Ground in Benin City, said: "I have traveled throughout the three senatorial districts of the state and the infrastructure are in the highest level of decay and what you find in the various local government areas is like what you find in Somalia and Liberia during the war time. In every city and town in the state, it is as if you are going to a war torn area.

" And that is why the battle for Osadey Avenue 2012 requires a general. Edo State must return to peace because it is a land of peace. When we come to power 2012 November 12, 2012 , Edo State will turn around for good".

There will be no more kidnapping; all Edo people will sleep with their eyes closed. Health care here is in a state of decay. When you go to our hospitals, you will not find drugs.

Let's wait and see.*sitting down and crossing my legs*
