Former governor of Kano State and presidential candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party in last April's general election, Ibrahim Shekarau, has been arrested by the State Security Service.
Details of the arrest is still sketchy and it is not clear why the former governor is being held.
A security source however said it has to do with some allegations that he had some links with the extremist Boko Haram sect.
When contacted, spokesperson for the SSS, Maryln Ogar, said she was not aware that Mr. Shekarau had been arrested by her organisation.
We however learnt the former governor has since been released and has returned to Kano.
