The Nigerian House in Salvador, Brazil, celebrated the first ever Nigeria Cultural week from the 3rd to 5th of September, 2011.
The occasion featured an exhibition, round table meeting, cultural performances and parades.
The programme was attended by the culture loving people of Bahia, largely populated by descendants of Africa, through the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Most of them trace their origin to West Africa, including Nigeria.
It was also graced by other dignitaries from Nigeria and Brazil including Deputy Mayor of Salvador, Prof Edwardo Butto. Bahia State Commissioner for Tourism, Hon Domingoes Juenelli, Ambassador Paulo Coideiro, representing the Governor of Bahia, Nigerian Ambassador to Brazil, Amb V. O Okoredion, Chief of Culture Secretariat, Bahia State, Ronuilo Gavo among others.
