The new year is looking just as bright as the last for Adele! (Now let's hope she stays well enough to enjoy it!)
For the 15th straight week, Adele's 21 album is the #1 selling album on the Billboard 200 chart, pushing 124,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan. While that's down 14% from the week before, the album remains the only one to move over 100,000 this week; Drake's Take Care came in at #2 with 42K copies sold.
Now,record, which stayed afloat for 16 weeks at the #1 spot. But we just have to wonder ... could Adele best the disc all together and got for 17 weeks?!
However, since the 23-year-old singer's vocal cord surgery in November, the question remains whether she will be able to perform by show time Feb. 12. But there is hope: Adele is already booked for a gig the week following the Grammys, so she may get added to the list of performers by then.
Adele will appear Feb. 21 at the 2012 BRIT Awards in London - news that arrived along with this year's list of nominations (she's up for three songs, including British Album of the Year). "F- ing happy, thank you for the nods," Adele tweeted upon hearing the good news.
Grammy organizers frequently announce addition-al performers and presenters as the date approaches, so anything's possible. Adele herself tweeted Friday that she's "looking forward to the Grammys."
