A staff of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, has been stabbed to death over N100 levy.

Sikiru Adedayo, the 24-year old man who worked at PHCN Odogunyan Undertaking, was allegedly stabbed to death with a broken bottle by Lateef Majaro during an argument over the payment of N100 by each household to fix an electricity problem.

The incident happened on Sunday at 19, Oduyebo Street, Odogunyan area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the deceased, who was a resident of the area and other youths of the area were moving from house to house to collect the N100 from residents to enable them rent a ladder and repair the faulty electricity supply to the area.

When they got to Majaro's house, his mother, Madam Monsurat Majaro, allegedly refused to pay the said sum. Instead, she engaged the youths in an argument and allegedly called her son Lateef who also lives in the same house to come out to fight the youth.

According to an eye witness, Lateef allegedly came out of their house with a bottle, broke it and stabbed Sikiru who was already leaving the scene. The victim was rushed to the Ikorodu General Hospital where he was confirmed dead by doctors after all efforts to save his life failed as a result of the massive blood he lost.

The assailant took to his heels immediately and has not been found as at the time of filling this report.

However, the police have arrested the 65-year old mother of the assailant.
