Chelsea Striker, Daniel Sturridge Is Suffering From Viral Meningitis

Chelsea confirmed Wednesday that Daniel Sturridge is suffering from viral meningitis but the striker could yet recover in time to play for Britain in the Olympics.

Blues manager Roberto Di Matteo told reporters that the 22-year-old forward was on the mend after being struck down with a mild form of the illness over the weekend.
The England striker has contracted a less serious strain of the virus and has already began to show signs of improvement, but it is not yet known if he will be fit for the Olympics.

Di Matteo said: 'Daniel has viral meningitis. I spoke to him and he feels better now. Hopefully he gets well as soon as possible.'
