The trial of Akolade Arowolo, 30, who allegedly stabbed his banker-wife, Titilayo, to death in June last year, was stalled due to the absence of three witnesses at the Ikeja High Court on Tuesday.
The Director of Public Prosecutions, Mrs. Olabisi Ogungbesan, told Justice Lateefah Okunnu that the three witnesses – two policemen and a neighbour of the couple – were unavoidably absent.
She said, "A police inspector at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Mr. Buster Ajie; a policeman at the Aswani Police Division, Mr. Cletus, and a neighbour of the couple, Mrs. Hannah Alaka, are absent.
Arowolo's lawyer, Mr. Olanrewaju Ajanaku, however, noted that the absence of witnesses could stall the trial but told the court that Wednesday was convenient.
Okunnu subsequently adjourned the case till Wednesday.
Biko, Justice delayed is justice denied, please we want justice to prevail on time.
