The Award ceremony which took place at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja also witnessed the presentation of a plaque to Nigeria's former military Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari as the politician of the year 2010.
Ambassador Shehu Malanu presented this Governor of the year 2010 Award to Edo state Governor Comrade Adams Oshiomhole on behalf of the Leadership Newspaper Group.

While acknowledging that the 2011 elections were not perfect, Comrade Oshiomhole, however, submitted that the exercise recorded a substantial improvement over previous ones.
To sustain democracy, the governor posited that, key players must be mindful of their utterances, while there is need for an over hauling of the Independent National Electoral Commission to make it a truly unbiased umpire.
