When the Will of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu was read last week, it revealed that the late elder statesman had a love child his wife, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu did not know about. The news came as a shock to her as it was reported that she openly expressed her surprise at the mention of a new name, Tenny Haman as one of his children.
In the Will, He willed the Casabianca Lodge at No. 7, Forest Crescent, GRA, Enugu, two properties at Jabi and Kuje in the FCT as well as all his money and personal effects to his widow, Bianca. He also said that Bianca should replace him as the trustee in the family company, Ojukwu Transport Ltd, while also giving her two plots of land in his village at Nnewi.
He, however, added that if she re-married, the land should be taken away from her.
The first son, Emeka Jnr., got the family house at Nnewi, while the newly mentioned daughter, Tenny Haman, got the Jubilee Hotel located in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The Biafran warlord also shared other landed property in the village among all his children.
Ojukwu listed the trustees and executors of the will to include Bianca, Emeka Jnr and Mr James Chukwuneme.
The new newly mentioned daughter, Tenny which came as a shock to many has raised doubts about her paternity with many saying there was need to question it.
However, the first son of late Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Debe Odumegwu-Ojukwu has said he knew Tenny was his late father’s biological daughter and there was no need to question her paternity.
He told Punch that her mother was a northerner and his late father’s love for Tenny embodied the love he had for Northerners while alive.
“That is his daughter, I knew about her; my father told me himself. The old man told me that Tenny Haman was his daughter. I am his biggest and closest confidant; so there were so many things he laid bare to me which he never told others. Her mother is from the North – Kaduna State precisely but I am not so sure of her first name now. My father loved Tenny just the same way he loved the northerners. Infact, Tenny’s conception and birth was a hidden agenda he executed to demonstrate his love for the Northerners.”
On the other hand, he said that the Will read last week was not the authentic one and described it as a “concoction”. According to him, the original one was yet to be read.
“The Will purportedly read last week Friday at the Enugu State High Court is a script prepared by some people to suit their selfish desire. That is not his Will, you can see it from the reactions that have trailed it since it was read, so I’m not bothered. When the time comes, my late father’s Will would be read. Whenever it is time to read my father’s Will, Nigerians would be duly informed and no one would be taken unawares as was the case in Enugu.”
Debe, also known as Sylvester is Ojukwu’s first son but had earlier been disinherited and had nothing willed to him. It would be recalled that Sylvester had dragged the Ojukwu family to court for preventing him from performing ‘dust to dust’ rites at his father’s burial. He however claimed in another report that he is worth more than the assets mentioned in his father’s Will.
“I am worth over N3 billion, which is more than the assets mentioned in my father’s Will,” he said.
