“I cant speak on it ’cause I’m not gonna see it,” he said. “All I’m going to say is that it’s disrespectful to my ancestors. That’s just me…I’m not speaking on behalf of anybody else.”Lee also tweeted:
Django Unchained is an American western film which stars Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.
While Lee is certainly entitled to his opinion, stars Jamie Foxx and Kerry Washington, who have been working overtime to promote the controversial film, hope others don't agree.
Do you agree with Lee? Feel free to share your thoughts!
Not a huge fan of DJANGO, but at no point was slavery used for laughs, black characters made the 'butt of a joke'.
ReplyDeleteDoes it really matter?
ReplyDeletewhen did movies have to be historically accurate? Is Star Trek accurate? Is Enter the Dragon accurate? Do people actually look to get historical informaton from Django? Do people try to get real life information from Kill Bill? Abeg shift Lee.

ReplyDeleteSpike lee should shutup and come and do some real charitywork instead of making money off african movies...quentin has made an african movie and he feels its his sole right.
ReplyDeleteIf Spike Lee made this movie it would most diff go a different way.... I'm speaking being a family member of one of the actress. This movie reminds our younger generation about black history with a twist.. I loved the movie point blank..
