The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has prevented a 39 year old from smuggling 1.5kg of cocaine in milk containers at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos.
The suspect, George Mike Adelabu, was apprehended during the outward clearance of passengers on an Emirate flight to India.
According to a statement signed by the spokesman of the anti-drugs agency, Mr. Mitchel Ofoyeju, the drug was said to have been factory-packed in liquid milk containers among other tin food products.
The release, however, noted that the anti-drug Agency had launched an investigation into the seizure, describing it as shocking.
Also speaking on the incident, the Chief Executive of the Agency, Ahmadu Giade, said that the mode of concealment was a reflection of the desperation and sophistication of drug trafficking syndicates.
Also arrested was a hair stylist, Samuel Aminat Abiodun, arrested during the screening of passengers on flight to India from the Lagos airport.
Giade has, however, advocated a multi-pronged approach in ensuring a drug free society.
While calling on useful information from the public that could lead to a drug burst, he assured that such acts shall be rewarded.
This measure, the Agency believes, will encourage people to assist in tracking down more drug barons.
The suspect, George who claimed to have hailed from Ondo State is married with a son and resides at Epe area of Lagos.
