Mother of Kannywood actress, Rabi Ismail, has appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan and Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, to spare the life of her daughter.
Asking Jonathan and Kwankwaso to temper justice with mercy, Asma'u urged them to revisit the case of the popular Hausa movie actress on the grounds that her daughter was innocent of the case. Lamenting the unfortunate incident during an exclusive interview with leadership weekend, Asma'u expressed shock over the allegation against her daughter, saying that her daughter was well behaved and took care of her as a mother. "Although Rabi is temperamental and highly volatile, but she takes good care of me more than all of my six children. When she is capricious, the moment you talk to her, she will succumb and calm down. She is the type
that doesn't tolerate gibberish.
Whatever she does, Rabi has never spent a night outside."
According to her, Rabi did
not commit such an offence, saying as a mother, she did everything possible within her limit to know if her daughter was involved in the mess.
"During one of the visits I made to her at the prison custody, I sat down with Rabi and consoled her to tell me the truth. Having known the kind of person she is, Rabi denied involvement in the matter. She told me vividly that if she did it, she would have confessed and let the law take its course on her," she added
It was gathered that Rabi's father is nowhere to be found due to the fact he divorced her mother a
long time ago. When asked of the whereabouts of the her former husband, who is the father of her children, Asma'u, popularly known as Jummai Cecelia said that, the whereabouts of her former husband, Isma'il Mohammed, was still unknown to her.
The convicted actress was sentenced to death following her involvement in the killing of her boyfriend, Auwalu Ibrahim in 2002 just as the Supreme Court upheld the verdict of Kano High court and the court of Appeal on the matter.
