Arowolo at the briefing yesterday.
A mild drama played out, Tuesday, at the Oduduwa office of the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, when Mr. Arowolo Akolade, 30, alleged to have murdered his wife, Titi Arowolo, slumped when he saw newsmen waiting anxiously to speak with him.
After he was resuscitated, he said: "Please, I am bereaved. I just lost my wife. I also got injured. Look at the series of wounds on my stomach and hands. Have I not suffered enough? At the right time, information will get to you. I am not in the right state of mind and if you have any question on the death of my wife, you can ask my lawyer."
However, his lawyer Mr. Vincent Obianoyi, said that his client has a right to remain silent while investigation into the death of his wife was ongoing.
A police source told Vanguard that the suspect claimed that his wife stabbed him several times and also stabbed herself which led to her death during a scuffle in their apartment in other to make him suffer. The source added that Arowolo consented that his two years marriage to the late wife was plagued with severe conflicts.
According to the source, "the suspect has been cooperating with the police since interrogation into the matter started. He denied ever killing her. But he rather claimed that she stabbed him and also stabbed herself during a fight at their No. 8, Akinshinde Street, Isolo area of Lagos State before she gave up the ghost.
"The suspect admitted that they had a fight on that Friday, which has been a regular occurrence in their home and he claimed that she inflicted those bodily harms on herself in a bid to get him into trouble. But preliminary investigations carried out so far, revealed that the suspect sustained some burns during the scuffle, but we are yet to fully unravel what truly transpired that day", the source added.
