2011 Nigerian Broadcasters Award Gathers Momentum!
ON October 31, 1959, history was made as the first TV station in Africa, Western Nigerian Television, WNTV, the brainchild of the Obafemi Awolowo government, took off in Ibadan, the then capital of the Western Region.
It has, however, been observed that Nigeria’s entertainment industry has shown less concern in appreciating and celebrating Broadcasters, On-air Personalities, Deejays, despite the fact that they are the star makers.
Reality One Entertainment is set to change this with a yearly award ceremony to celebrate Nigerian On-air personalities.
The 3-day event is initiated to create an atmosphere where veterans, TV and Radio personalities who have contributed to the growth of electronic media in Nigeria, will be celebrated from October 28-30, 2011.
Day one will hold a seminar where stakeholders will share their experiences with younger ones, while on October 29, a novelty match between TV and Radio personalities.
October 30 is a night of celebration as On-Air-Personalities, top Radio and TV stations, and corporate firms that have contributed to the development of the Nigerian Electronic media, will be honoured.
Apart from the awards, post humous awards for late veterans into Hall of Fame will also take place.
